Be Encouraged

by | Sep 7, 2010 | Encouragement

This morning in my office, with my coffee in hand, I was reading an email from my friend Betty, whom I met through Mission of Hope.  We have served there together maybe close to a year now.  (I absolutely love Betty, and am so thankful God crossed our paths!)  At the end of her email below her name I read “Numbers 6:24-26.”
My curiousity was about to get me…”What is Numbers 6:24-26?”  I went to BibleGateway.com and plugged in those scripture verses to find out.  What I read next, blessed me…
‘May the Lord bless you
and protect you.
May the Lord smile on you
and be gracious to you.
May the Lord show you his favor
and give you his peace.’
I read through the different translations, and chose this one which is the New Living Translation.
What wonderful words!  What a wonderful prayer!  I’ve read this scripture passage many times, and I even remember singing it in choir in high school at the end commencement each year.  But reading it today had an impact on me.  This is something I pray for our family every day…not necessarily in these words, but for each of these things…God’s blessing, protection, God’s grace, His favor and His peace (among other things).
As we start this week after the holiday yesterday, I am encouraged and uplifted with these words of God.  I pray this for you today as you read this!  Friends, be encouraged as well!  Have a blessed week!
