Keep Going. Your Breakthrough Is Coming!

by | Nov 20, 2021 | Encouragement

Do you ever feel like giving up? Do you wonder, what’s the use? Or do you think, it’s just too hard? Or have you questioned, maybe God is trying to tell me to quit because things aren’t easy? I’m guessing I’m not the only one who wonders such things or thinks such thoughts. But before you and I follow those thoughts and feelings, let’s pause today and choose to believe the breakthrough we’ve been working for and waiting on is coming!

Because, friend, I believe it is.

Your breakthrough is coming!

Keep Going. Your breakthrough is coming!

Why? Because if God has called you to something, He will lead you through it to completion. He’s not going to call you to do something, then leave you midstream. That’s not Him. That’s not His character. He has never demonstrated that kind of behavior before, and He’s not about to start doing that with you.

You and I can trust God is with us every step of this journey.

Look through the Bible and we will see examples of one breakthrough after another. In people’s lives like Ruth, Naomi, Esther, Joseph, and Joshua. There are numerous accounts of how people persevered until their breakthrough came. They didn’t give up. And God calls us to not give up either.

I can’ tell you how many times I’ve thought about quitting on my dream of writing.

Seriously. I have temptations to give up quite often, actually. I have days when I think my words are making no difference in this world. At all. On other days I think my words stink, and I have thoughts like, who am I to think I can write? I also have days where I sit here at my laptop and no words come to me. None. Not one. It’s on those days, on the lowest days, when I especially feel like giving up.

Let me tell you, writing is not a glamorous life. It’s hard work. It’s painful and strenuous at times. It is even daunting in certain moments. And it would be really easy to give up on it some days. To put it aside and move on. To close my laptop for good.

But I can’t.

I can’t because God has called me to write. God has called me to share the words He gives me. To serve those who are placed in my path. And to love others through words. Because even though writing can be difficult, and hard, and daunting sometimes, writing is also fulfilling and a blessing to me. Writing brings me great joy, and it helps me process life in a meaningful way. Even if others never read some of the words I write. Writing is a part of me, and I know it’s a gift God has given me to use for my growth, for the good of others, and for His glory.

So, I can’t give up.

I guess, I’m glad I can’t. And you can’t give up either. Because I believe you understand how God has gifted you, too, to do that thing. To continue to follow His calling on your life, no matter how difficult it gets or how uncomfortable it feels. To keep going and to just take the next step in faith.

Because really, that’s all we can do. Keep going and just take the next step in faith. And God will honor those steps with a breakthrough. And the thing is, a breakthrough may be closer than we realize!

When the breakthrough comes we will be thrilled we didn’t quit on the difficult days. We will rejoice we persevered. We will remember the hard moments, the moment we almost quit, and those will make the breakthrough even more sweet. And God will get the glory, not us, because we will know it was Him that kept us going.

Three Bible verses come to mind as we choose to persevere in our callings.

We can do all things in Jesus’ strength.

I can do all things through Christ, because he gives me strength.

Philippians 4:13 NCV

Keep our eyes fixed straight ahead on where God is leading us.

Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.

Proverbs 4:25-26 NIV

The harvest will come in His season.

May we never tire of doing what is good and right before our Lord because in His season we shall bring in a great harvest if we can just persist.

Galatians 6:9 VOICE

Friend, please don’t give up. Your breakthrough is coming.

I can’t wait to rejoice with you when you experience it. I’m cheering you on and rooting for you. And I’m praying too!
