Calm After The Storm

by | Jan 7, 2012 | Ramblings

This morning I’m sitting in the passenger seat of our Envoy as we are driving north a few hours to watch and cheer Ali and her show choir on in their first competition of the season.

It’s been a relaxing morning and drive so far. My coffee is in hand, snacks are packed, Bill is calmly driving and Zach is sleeping soundly in the back seat. Bill has the radio tuned into a radio station I don’t much care for which is playing “classic hits.” “That’s the way, uh huh, I like it, uh huh uh huh…” is coming through the speakers. Seriously? 🙂 If I was driving I’d be listening to Christian radio, praising God and thanking Him for a calmer day than yesterday, and for equipping me through such an unbelievable day yesterday! (In our family, the driver gets control of the radio.) I’m praising and thanking Him in my head, however.

Words really can’t describe my day yesterday. God has called me to be at Mission of Hope to minister to those who are hurting and needy. With that calling comes uncertainty and difficulty some days. God is teaching me and guiding me through each circumstance. Oh, how I’ve grown! And…yes, I’m thankful for that. I’m thankful that I get to do what I get to do! 🙂

But today is a different day…a calm day after a stormy day. I’m going to soak in God’s indescribable presence in my life today, and look for Him in every situation. I’m going to watch Ali do what she loves to do, and I’m filled with joy as our family is together.

Blessings to you on this Saturday!
