RAGBRAI 2015 – Update 6

by | Jul 24, 2015 | personal journey

Hills and more hills seemed to be the theme of yesterday’s ride. Oh my goodness.

I’d have to say, we’re getting pretty good at them, even though some are killers! The song “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor helped us up one of them. We have more hills waiting for us today. Our sag wagon is on call!

As we kept inching southward on the route, we moved closer and closer to “home,” and to people we love. What a joy it was to see dear friends and some family, and spending time with them on the stops.

Oh, and we met some celebrities along the way too!

The overnight town was just a half-hour away from our home, and our original plan was to stay with friends nearby instead of camping. But we were offered another option… to go home and sleep in our own beds! We took our friends, Brian and Renae, up on their offer. They came and hung out with us at the Dennis DeYoung (original member of Styx) concert, packed up our gear and took us home!

What a gift! Thank you, great friends! Sleeping in our own bed was heavenly!

So here we are… our son is driving us back to the route this morning.

We have 63 hilly miles ahead of us today. It’s our last day on the ride, as tonight our family reunion begins. We plan to soak up every remaining moment of our RAGBRAI 2015 adventure.

I’ll update again soon!

Happy Friday!
Julie
