He is For Us

SAMSUNGI love it when God reveals one of His truths to me.

Late this afternoon I was messaging a friend, and a scripture verse came to mind that I felt I should share to encourage this friend. I couldn’t quote the exact verse number, but I knew it was somewhere after Romans 8:28. And the scripture was, “If God is for us, who can be against us?”

I questioned in my mind, “Why this verse?” I didn’t exactly know why, but I have learned from experience, if something like that seems comes out of the blue, I just follow through and do what I feel I’m supposed to do. Maybe I needed to be reminded of this verse? Or maybe my friend needed this verse? I wasn’t sure. But I typed it out and sent it to my friend.

Just a few minutes later I opened up my email and clicked on Max Lucado’s UpWords devotion reading for today. I hadn’t read it yet. Well…guess what the scripture verse was? YES! Romans 8:31, “If God is for us, who can be against us?”

I don’t believe in coincidences. When I seem to be hearing/reading/directed to the same scripture verse over a short period of time, I pay attention. God speaks to us through His Word, and this is just one example of how He can do it. He can do anything…He’s God!

Maybe you needed to hear that God is for you tonight. Maybe you’re going through an extremely tough time. Maybe you’re struggling with something that you don’t understand. Take heart, my friend. God is for YOU!

God is for ALL of us, after all, He created us. He’s not against us, but for us. Not just for some. Not just for those who deserve it (none of us do). Not just for those who are perfect (none of us are). He is for my friend and my friend’s family. He’s for me, and He is for you.

I can look throughout my life and can see how God has been for me. How He’s protected me. How He’s made things happen that should have never in reality happened. How I met my husband, and have been blessed in our wonderful marriage. What wonderful children He has blessed me with. How He’s used my past mistakes to teach me and help me teach my children through them. How He’s healed relationships. How He’s blessed me with jobs that prepared me for the next one. I could go on and on with example after example. He has no doubt been for me.

And I imagine you can look back and see how He’s been there for you too.

May we all rest in that assurance today. May we rest in that peace tonight. No matter what you may be going through, God will work out everything for good. He’s got your back.I’m so thankful for that truth tonight!
