Five Minute Friday – Yes

by | Sep 3, 2015 | Five Minute Friday

It’s that time of week again where many of us write for five minutes on a one-word prompt. Five Minute Friday. It’s a flash-mob of sorts! We gather together to share our five-minute compilations, while we extend support and encouragement to one another at the lovely Kate Motaung’s blog home. She’s a gracious hostess each week!

Join us, won’t you. Set your timer for five minutes and go. Don’t worry about grammar, punctuation, etc. It may not even make sense. That’s okay! Just write. On your own blog, in the comments below, or on a piece of paper at home. You choose.

This week’s word:

–YES–

GO.

A week ago I felt God prompting me.

But I had to make sure. I had to know without a doubt He was telling me to go.

“God, if you want me to go, please make a way for me to do so. If not, shut the door.”

Within hours the door flew wide open, and I was booking a plane ticket to Baltimore.

yes

I said, “Yes.”

Yes, to God. Yes, to His prompting. Yes, to a new adventure on this journey. Yes, to loving my friend Patty.

Patty and I have been friends since 5th Grade. We did nearly everything together back then. We played sports, we marched in the band, we hung out at each other’s homes, we did what normal friends did back in the 80’s. We had a ball together, and we grew up together.

We’re still growing up together.

Except I still live in Iowa, and Patty lives in Maryland.

Patty contracted a serious bacteria nearly two weeks ago, and has been in the hospital for the last ten days. She was released today, but not first without experiencing numerous surgeries, and even losing part of her right hand.

When God prompts you to go, you go.

You say, “Yes.”

I fly out next Wednesday, and return the following week.

I would welcome your prayers! Any that God prompts you to pray. For me. For safety. For a smooth trip. For Patty. For healing. For us to experience God’s presence all along the way.

I’ll be praying for you as well, and will update when I can.

STOP.

Is there something God is prompting you to say “yes” to?? I’ll be praying for you in this manner.

I do appreciate your prayers, more than you know. It’ll be great to see Patty again, and to do what I can to help her and her family. Thanks again for journeying alongside of me. It’s a joy to do life with you!

God bless you!

Much love,

Julie

Oh Julie, I’m SO SORRY to hear about your friend. I can’t imagine. I’m lifting a prayer for her now, friend. May the Lord bring you a joy that goes beyond the circumstances! So glad we were FMF neighbors.

I’m saying YES! to being patient with my daughter’s difficulty in adjusting to life in America and life at home with no brother. A lot to handle for a 16 year old.

Oh, goodness, Betsy. My heart goes out to you, and to your daughter. Our son had such a difficult time adjusting to his sister moving out. It was one of the saddest times in his life. But today, they are as close as ever, even though they don’t live under the same roof any longer. I’ll be praying for you all in this time of transition. Thank you for your prayers. God is in it all! Much love to you!

Julie, I think you’re flat-out wonderful. You’re a blessing, and a sign of the immanence of God, in your presence in this life.

My prayers are with Patty, and with you.
