I expect to be spending most of the day today sitting right here at our dining room table, in front of my laptop. I am working from home today, writing the message for our Worship Service at Mission of Hope on Sunday.
I always enjoy sharing God’s Word, and I get the honor of doing that every other month at the Mission. I’m not quite sure what the message is going to be on yet, but in a minute here, I’ll start searching scripture to see what God might be showing me that He wants me to share.
I’ve given messages similar to this at other churches and programs, and I’m always blessed to have the opportunity to do so. Next month I’ll be sharing at another local church, and I look forward to it. But, I find it a little funny, and quite amazing, that what I used to be deathly fearful of (public speaking), is now one of my greatest blessings! God healed me from that fear, and I’m so very thankful that He did. That healing didn’t come overnight, but over time, stepping out of my comfort zone and trusting God would help me, that fear left my life. There’s something to be said for confronting fear…you face it head on, and it will eventually leave!
If you’re struggling with fear of something today, give it to God. Ask for His help in facing your fear, then take the next step toward it. Step out of your comfort zone and even though it may be scary and uncomfortable, face it head on. I believe you’ll find that the fear will lose it’s power over you and eventually it’ll leave your life…like it did mine. And by the way, fear doesn’t come from God. 2 Timothy 1:7 reads,
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.“
May you have a power-, love- and sound mind-filled day today! I’ll be praying for all of us as we face our fears today as I write my message. (Hmmm…maybe this is what God wants me to speak about on Sunday. I’ll keep you posted!) God bless you, friend!
