Being Thankful Day 28

The adventure of living on a gravel road in the winter!

Being Thankful Day 28

Today I am thankful for where we live.  We live in the “country,” a rural area on a gravel road.  Our closest neighbors are 1/4-1/2 mile away, which by the way, are wonderful neighbors.  We can see the sunrise in the east and the sunset in the west from our home.  Our view from the back desk is of the town I grew up in… about 1-1/2 miles away.  As I look out now, I can faintly see a couple homes with Christmas lights on them.  Maybe one of them is the home I grew up in???  Street lights are twinkling in the distance, and the church steeple is lit up.  It’s a beautiful picture.

It’s very quiet out here.  After living here for almost ten years, I can’t imagine living in a city, or even a town for that matter, with neighbors right next door to me.  I feel like God has blessed us out here, with space, land surrounding us, and peace and quiet!

It’s makes me smile as I think back to growing up in our small town…as a kid, I never imagined I’d be living here today, looking at our town from a distance. 🙂

Sure, our vehicles are often dusty with gravel dust because of our road.  And yes, I know some people judge us negatively for having dirty cars.  I’ll put up with a little gravel, and you know, I really don’t care what others think about how clean or how not clean our cars are.  I wouldn’t trade this location of our home for anything!  We love it out here, and I am so thankful God has blessed us living in what I describe as “His Country.”
