The Adventure of Summer Is Here #summerofadventure

by | May 27, 2018 | #adventure2018

Summer is upon us here in eastern Iowa.

Okay, maybe not officially if you look at the calendar, but it’s Memorial Day weekend and it’s forecasted to be in the 90s all weekend. That signifies summer in my book.

The adventure of summer is here! Join me! #summerofadventure

I couldn’t be more ready for summer.

I’m almost giddy about it. Didn’t winter last almost half of a year this year? I mean really. It felt like it was never going to end. It’s a wonder why I still live where I do, as winters in Iowa can be a struggle. Winter is my least favorite of all the seasons. You’d think maybe it was time for us to move south. But, even so, I don’t think I could leave our rural road life out here in the middle of nowhere. (And miss the amazing sunrises and sunsets?)

But, summer. Summer is my favorite! The sun, the longer days, the relaxed schedules, the barbecues, the outdoor activities, and the bicycling. Yes, bicycling! RAGBRAI will be upon us in less than two months. (Yikes! We are no where near ready to tandem bicycle across the state in seven days, but will hopefully be by mid-July.) I even, for the most part, like the summer heat. Yes, you can call me crazy. I don’t care for it so much, however, while I’m trying to sleep in a tent during RAGBRAI week!

Summer is going to be an adventure.

Big trips are absent from our calendar this season, but we’ll do our best to find lots of smaller adventures. Friday nights will be spent with friends and family at the racetrack. June weekends are packed with RAGBRAI training and family events and gatherings. Our huge family reunion and RAGBRAI are slated for July. August will be here before we know it, and we’ll be in the throws of preparing for our daughters wedding in October. Not to mention, living the adventure of each moment I’m given daily. Oh, may I not forget to enjoy the adventure of each day.

It’s only fitting since hastags are quite the thing these days, I’ve again come up with one for this summer.

hashtag :: (on social media websites) a word or phrase preceded by a hash mark (#), used within a message to identify a keyword or topic of interest and facilitate a search for it

I’ve done this for the past two summers. Summer 2016’s was #bestsummerever, and 2017’s was #98daysofsummer. This year’s hashtag is fitting since my word for 2018 is ADVENTURE.

This summer will be the #summerofadventure.

I’ll use #summerofadventure on my Instagram posts (follow me at julielefebure) and my Tweets (@JulieLefebure). I might even intersperse it in my posts and my writings now and then. It’s just something fun and adds a fresh excitement to my days. This hashtag will help me in my search to recall special moments and memories in years to come.

Friend, what about you? If you were to choose a hashtag for this summer, what would you choose? Or, maybe you already have one for this season? Or, maybe you have one for the entire year? (Mine is #adventure2018.) You’re certainly welcome to use mine and join me in this #summerofadventure.

Isn’t every day with God a beautiful adventure?

You direct me on the path that leads to a beautiful life. As I walk with You, the pleasures are never-ending, and I know true joy and contentment.  Psalm 16:11 (VOICE)

Bless you, friend, in this season of summer. I pray God refreshes you with His love, encourages you with His presence, and equips you to bloom where you’re planted.

Much love,

Since I’m traveling quite a bit this summer, I think I’d go with something like #summernomad18. Always love reading about your summer adventure.

I can’t wait to follow your RAGBRAI adventure again this year! Life doesn’t change as much for me with the seasons as it used to so I’ll say my hashtag will be #summerofwonder as I wonder about many things…..wonder where I’ll go and where life is headed. And I don’t want to miss all the wonder around me!
