My alarm went off at 6:10 this morning…after about 5-1/2 hours of sleep. I stayed up way too late last night.
After trying to pry my eyes open, I waited to hear from Tina to discuss what we were going to do with church at the Mission this morning. Freezing rain was to begin sometime between 6-7 a.m. Her text came in, and after seeing where the rain was and was expected, she made the decision to cancel it. That was a great call! Within the hour, the rain started and ice was everywhere.
I went back to bed, however, until about 10:30. All of us slept that long…we all needed that extra sleep! And you know, I don’t feel a bit guilty about sleeping that late!
Our lights flickered a couple times and it rained and sleeted a good part of the morning. Roads were completely covered with ice quickly. I was glad we didn’t have to go anywhere, and glad Ali called into work for the afternoon. I did not want her out there driving on those roads.
Can I just say I love days like this? Where we are all home and spend the day together. Where it doesn’t matter what I’m wearing on what I’m doing. Where I can relax, catch up on a few things I’ve put off because of lack of time, and enjoy just “being.”
I spent some time finishing my Bible study and doing homiletics. Gosh, I’m learning so much in this year’s BSF study. I need to make another Genesis post.
And we have our share of fun together as a family…laughs, jokes and many smiles with each other. I love my husband and children! I thank God for them today! They truly are so much fun!
I’m off to bake a batch of cookies! It’s been a great day of just “being!”
