A Praise From One Thankful Mom

by | Jun 10, 2014 | This Lefe Family

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Psalm 1506Can I share a praise with you today?

God has answered our prayers over here in our little corner of the world, and I want to shout it from the rooftops!

Many of you have lifted our family–specifically my 17-year old son–in prayer, and I cannot thank you enough. Two weeks ago I wrote about his frightening eye injury he experienced in a soccer game which abruptly ended his season (The Night My Son Couldn’t See).

Zach had his follow-up doctor appointment yesterday morning. My husband wasn’t able to join us, so it was just mom and son yesterday.

Walking into the office, my stomach was full of big, fluttering butterflies. The kind that make you want to lose your breakfast. This mom was expecting the best, but prepared to hear the worst.

The past five weeks flashed through my mind. Zach did everything the doctor asked him to do. He obeyed fully the orders he was given. (Except his dad and I did see him kick two balls into the goal during half-time at one of his team’s games. Dad’s loud whistle, which echoed through the stadium, reminded Zach he wasn’t to even do that.)

Zach took his injury seriously, for we knew that there could be damage internally that was unseen to the naked eye.

You might as well have cut off Zach’s right arm though. Not being able to finish the last four weeks of the season of the sport he loves about crippled him. Many emotions reared their heads through those excruciating weeks of wanting so badly to play. Yet, he joyfully cheered for and supported his team as they finished the season one game short of the State Tournament.

As we often discussed, Zach knew God had a plan in it all, even if we couldn’t see it.

I’m thankful my son has his faith in the One who has him.

After many tests yesterday morning, I am thrilled to tell everyone I possibly can of God’s healing and His faithfulness.

The doctor found Zach’s eye to be COMPLETELY healed with NO internal damage!!

Thank you, Jesus!

And you should have seen Zach’s face light up when he was informed he can resume his “normal activities.”

We celebrated afterwards with a latte for me and a chocolate shake for him.

And I haven’t stopped praising God since.

Psalm 150:1-6

Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.

Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.

Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,

praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe,

praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord.

Mom Zach soccer

Thank you for praising Him and rejoicing with me. Thank you for the prayers you prayed on Zach’s behalf. This mom is humbly grateful, and I forever will be.

Much love,

Beth, thank you. My son has watched God act on our family’s behalf so many times, which has helped grow his faith. I wish I would have had that kind of faith at seventeen! Thank you for your words that encourage. I’m humbly grateful!
