Friend, You Matter

by | Oct 1, 2015 | 31 Days Celebrating Who You Are

The guy at the counter retorted, “Just a moment. Let me take this phone call.”

An approaching car slipped into the parking spot you were waiting to take.

It was another moment of feeling left out, insignificant, and inferior.

Another day of being invisible, unimportant, just a number.

Yep, I’ve been there. Way too frequently.

I’m guessing you have, too.

It’s easy to feel like you don’t matter. Or you aren’t important enough. Or you’re forgotten because it’s one more time you’re left out.

The world has a way of filling your thoughts with ideas that your life means nothing. That you’re just here taking up space. That no one really cares if you’re here or not.

But, friend, nothing could be farther from the truth.

On this first day of our journey of 31 Days Celebrating Who You Are, this is the perfect place to begin.

You matter.

This will be our springboard for the rest of the month.

You matter to the One Who matters. You matter to the One Who created you. You matter because God made you in His image.

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us…” Genesis 1:26a

Genesis 1 26aThe “us” in this passage is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as one. (Deep truth… one we won’t tackle today.) God made us like Him. Not to be God, but to be in His image.

Because of this truth, friend, you most certainly matter.

God formed you. He saw you before you were born. He placed special gifts within you. He designed your life for a specific purpose. You weren’t meant to just survive here on earth. He’s equipped you to thrive. (**Spoiler Alert!!** We’ll dig deeper into these truths later in the month!)

The cool thing is, it’s not because of anything you or I have done, but because of what He’s done in us. It doesn’t matter what junk we’ve carried, or are currently carrying with us. And, despite what we’ve done, continue to do, or don’t do, you and I still matter to Him. Always have. Always will.

So the next time you’re left out, or someone steals your parking spot, or you’re spoken to in condescending way, or another treats you like last week’s leftovers, be reminded.

Be reminded of your significance

Be reminded of your significance.

You an I can rejoice in this truth today… and every day.

And one more thing… you matter to me too!

Much love,

Julie
