Sometimes distraction doesn’t come from bad things—it comes from good things. But good isn’t always God’s best. In this week’s episode of Undistracted October, Julie zooms out to look at our lives as a whole—our calendars, commitments, and choices—and explores what it means to say no to good so we can say yes to God.

Julie shares a personal story about how overstuffed Decembers in the past have left her sick by Christmas, not because she was doing anything wrong, but because she was saying yes to too many good things. Over time, God taught her to choose His best instead, and it’s brought lasting peace and focus.
Drawing from Hebrews 12:1 and the story of Mary and Martha (Luke 10:38–42), Julie shows how even good things can weigh us down and distract us from what truly matters. Martha was distracted by good preparations, while Mary chose what was best—sitting with Jesus.
Julie offers three biblical and practical principles to help you discern where God may be asking you to say “no” in this season:
- Know Your Race – Run the race God has set before you, not someone else’s.
- Discern Good vs. Best – Ask key questions to filter opportunities through God’s priorities.
- Trust God with the No – Saying no to something good makes room for His best, even when it feels uncomfortable.

Take some time this week to prayerfully look at your commitments and ask God to highlight one good thing that may not be His best for you right now.
