It’s Okay To Let Go

by | Dec 4, 2014 | Love God

Sometimes it’s okay to let go.

To let go of the striving, the quest for success, the desire to have more and be more.

To let go of the fretting, the worrying, the stressing over life.

To let go of trying to measure up, to be the best, to appear flawless.

To let go of hold ups, hang ups, let downs.

To let go of preconceived notions, expectations, intentions.

To let go and let God be God.

Friend, this may be the busiest time of your life. The busiest month of your year. The busiest week, by far. This is when it’s even more important to let go.

The world tells us to do the opposite. To kick it in overdrive, to do more, to not stop until you drop, to fake it until you make it. It also screams for us compete, to be envious, to have the latest and greatest. And it wants us to be discontented, disappointed, and disillusioned with who we are.

Don’t let these messages take your focus off what’s important. Don’t listen to the lies. Remember what you know. Remember truth.

I appreciate The Voice translation of Matthew 11:28-30:

Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Put My yoke upon your shoulders—it might appear heavy at first, but it is perfectly fitted to your curves. Learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble of heart. When you are yoked to Me, your weary souls will find rest. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

matthew 1128 give you restFriend, we can let go. We can let God be in charge. We can rest in His leading. We can trust He knows what He’s doing.

His yoke is easy, and His burden is light.

I needed this reminder today.

We don’t need to do all we’re doing. Let’s slow things down, and give God every big and little matter that’s on our path. Let’s focus only on what He’s asking us to do. Let’s keep first things first. And let go of everything else.

It’s okay to let go.

There’s freedom in doing so.

Praying for each of us today!

Blessings,

Julie

I agree with Abby. Amen to all of this! “Let’s focus only on what He’s asking us to do. Let’s keep first things first. And let go of everything else.” Yea, there are a few things I need to let go of to help me keep Him first. Thanks for this needed encouragement.

Hi Julie. This is a great word for me this evening. I’m having a “busier than normal” week ministry-wise, and it looks like this pace will continue through Sunday night. I want to have this attitude of letting go and talking His yoke on me, so I can make it through to Monday in one piece! Blessings on the rest of your week. 🙂

I found myself just earlier today at work singing “Let it go. let it go. let it go.” rather than “Let it snow. let it snow. let it snow.”
Ha ha – and then I came home and read your post. How fun!!
Bless you with GREAT JOY on your journey with Jesus!

I truly think letting go is THE hardest thing we have to do, and yet it makes the biggest difference in our lives. Whether it’s letting go of other’s expectations or our own, the need to control or accomplish, or just letting go of worry! This was a great reminder for me today. Thank you!

Hi Carol! I agree with you… letting go is difficult for me. I’m glad I’m not the only one, but I’m praying for those of us who struggle with it. Praying God helps us let go. Thanks for stopping by. Have a blessed week!
