My Life on a Thursday

by | Aug 24, 2012 | This Lefe Family

Today was my first day back at the Mission for the week. Oh it was good to get back with my friends. 🙂 I’ll write more about that in my Mission Tuesday post this week.

Ali is making progress with her illness. Her pain is becoming less and less, thankfully. We have a follow up appointment with our doctor on Monday. She attended her classes today for the first time…only three days behind, and it sounded like it went well! This mom was a little nervous for her, but I knew she’d do great. It’s hard to believe I have a college student! I’m so proud of this girl…what a trooper she is! And a tough cookie at that…she must get that from her mamma. 🙂

Zach drove again to and from school today, and drove back there tonight for soccer practice. It sounds like he’s doing well on the road. At least that’s the story we are hearing. 🙂 Such a big step for him and for us! Reality is setting in…Bill and I are approaching becoming empty-nesters more and more with each passing day. It’s no coincidence today’s devotional read:

“Entrust your loved ones to Me; release them into My protective care. They are much safer with Me than in your clinging hands. If you let a loved one become an idol in your heart, you endanger that one–as well as yourself….
…When you release loved ones to Me, you are free to cling to My hand. As you entrust others into My care, I am free to shower blessings on them. My Presence will go with them wherever they go, and I will give them rest. The same Presence stays with you, as you relax and place your trust in Me. Watch to see what I will do.”

Amen. I needed that today.

We at the Mission are busily preparing for Hopefest which is this Saturday, 11am-3pm. It’s our yearly huge outreach event at Redmond Park. Everything seems to be coming together for it, thankfully, despite the fact I haven’t been there much to help! Our band is performing as well…it’ll be great to be singing praises in that park again! I’ll share more about it in our Mission Tuesday post this week.

Being Zach’s soccer team’s parent manager has become almost a full-time job…at least these last two weeks. I have much to do for it tonight as well. Bill is going to be sitting with me laminating player cards, as I put our tournament binder together. It has been a learning experience, to say the least. Boy, did I ever take for granted what the previous managers did! Thanks Shelly from last year, and Brian from earlier years! I appreciate all you did even more now! Our first tournament is this Sunday. We will be checking in the team an hour prior to their first game Sunday morning. I pray we have all the necessary paperwork, and that it’s a beautiful day on Sunday!

It’s hard to believe that in a little over a week I’ll be boarding a plane for sunny (hopefully sunny) Florida. It’ll be strange not having my family traveling with me. My family gave me this trip to me for my birthday last year. It’s hard to believe it’s almost here! I look forward to some rest, relaxation and fun. But I will certainly miss my family.

What a beautiful evening it is on this Thursday! I better get busy on this binder, so I can soak up the sunset in about an hour. I pray your Thursday was a blessing too!
