Wrapping Up The 4 Ways To Live Fully Alive

by | Feb 15, 2019 | Bring Your Own Bible and Beverage

Live fully alive.

This week we’ve pondered ways to live fully alive. To not just get by in this life, but to live in a way of adventure, hope, and promise. I shared four ways at our recent BYOB and B event, and in thinking they might benefit many, I shared them here on the blog individually. We’ve explored live authentic, live openlive fearless, and live uncomfortable.

Live fully alive!

Which one of these four ways is most challenging to you?

Which is the one you have to be most intentional about? Mine? It’s live uncomfortable. Yes, even thought I can live uncomfortable on RAGBRAI for a week, that’s something different than living a life of uncomfortable. (Read the Live Uncomfortable post.) I mean, really. Living uncomfortable goes against my desires to stay in my comfort zone and under my fuzzy blue blanket.

But, again, God meets me in the uncomfortable. He grows me in the uncomfortable. He stretches me in the uncomfortable. And consciously, I know that’s a great thing. But, still. I struggle with living uncomfortable.

Jesus said powerful words in John 10:10. Powerful words we can live in today.

I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.

John 10:10b MSG

There’s more to life than what we see here.

Bottom line, life with Jesus is the only hope we have in a real and eternal life. Let’s remember, this earth is not our home. We are just passing through. The life that awaits us in eternity is far better than anything we experience here. Let’s keep our focus on where we’re headed, friend.

But there’s far more to life for us. We’re citizens of high heaven! We’re waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He’ll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him.

Philippians 3:20-21 MSG

There’s more to life than living our lives for today… authentic, open, fearless, uncomfortable. We have an eternity of promise and hope that sustains us and encourages our souls. A glorious future awaits us!

Even on the hard days, this gives us hope.

But, just because we follow Jesus doesn’t mean we’ll be given a comfortable life. Right? Jesus also said these timely words:

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]

John 16:33 AMP

Even on the hard and troublesome days, we can choose to be courageous. We can be confident, undaunted, and filled with joy. Not because of ourselves or our situations, but because Jesus has overcome it all. We have all the more reason to live fully alive today.

Begin to live fully alive.

Today’s the day our focus changes. Today’s the day we live differently… authentic, open, fearless, and uncomfortable. Today’s the day we begin to live fully alive! Amen?

Join me, won’t you? I invite you to choose one of these four ways and allow God to meet you in that area. Allow God to stretch you and encourage you. Find a way to be intentional about living fully alive.

Thank you for joining me in this series. May God bless you as you continue to live fully alive in Him!

Yes to living fully alive! And uncomfortable isn’t always fun, but I’ve noticed anything important, significant, and of eternal value has at least a small bit of uncomfortable in it!
