The Happiest People

by | Sep 11, 2014 | Friendship, Love Others

The happiest people are rarely the richest, or the most beautiful or even the most talented. Happy people do not depend on excitement and ‘fun’ supplied by externals. They enjoy the fundamental, often very simple, things of life. They waste no time thinking other pastures are greener; they do not yearn for yesterday or tomorrow. They savor the moment, glad to be alive, enjoying their work, their families, the good things around them. They are adaptable; they can bend with the wind, adjust to the changes in their times, enjoy the contests of life, and feel themselves in harmony with the world. Their eyes are turned outward; they are aware, compassionate. They have the capacity to love.

-Jane Canfield

Is there someone in your life who always seems to be happy? What do you think makes him/her happy?

Maybe that person is you!

I have three life-long friends from high school, Sheila, Karen and Patty. When I think of “happy” I think of them. Maybe it’s because of this photo my husband took of us together a couple years ago. It cracks me up each time I see it. Literally. I about laugh out loud each time. Sheila’s face (the one in the black and white dress with the pearls) is priceless!

For the life of me, I can’t remember what we were laughing about, but I remember it being incredibly funny! (Obviously!)

But these women in my life are genuinely happy. I believe they live the above quote beautifully.

It’s a great quote, isn’t it? I found it in my files this morning. It gives me a deep-down desire to live better, love more, and to enjoy every possible moment of life.

I’m not always the best at appreciating the moment I’m in. I sometimes am guilty of yearning for yesterday or tomorrow.

I love it when a quote or verse cuts to my core and inspires me to be better.

Another of my favorites is Philippians 4:8…

Do you have a favorite that inspires you? I’d love to read it. I welcome you to share yours below!

May we be the ones to turn our eyes outward, and live in the moment with content and happy lives.

Gosh, I love these girls!

Their presence in my life makes me happy!

Blessings!

Friends are one of God’s amazing joys. Love your photos and the joy they represent. And that verse is one of my favorites, too. Have a happy day!
