Growing and Good Stuff!

I ventured into some new things this week…

Monday evening I opened both a Twitter account and a Pinterest account.  I wondered after doing each, “Oh boy…what have I done?”  I’m learning…slowly…but I’m learning.  I am following 10 people on Twitter and have 1 follower…my husband! 🙂  We’ll see what I do with each in the days/weeks to come.

God has been busy with me this week…

He’s grown me in areas I wasn’t expecting.  I am thankful for the communication training I have received through my Mary Kay business, and boy did I need to use some of that this week!  Unplanned, but necessary!  I realized in the middle of it all that God allowed me to learn those things for such a time as this!  So thankful!

I’ve had many things to rejoice in this week…

I’m so proud of Bill and what he’s doing.  I’ll share more about that another time.

I’m so proud of Ali!  She worked so hard and finished the school semester strong!  After missing 15 days of school this semester, she had her work cut out for her.  But she did it, with great grades and was able to get everything turned in on time!  I’m so, so proud of her!

Zach has been lifting weights after school 2-3 days each week, and has committed to going to early morning agilities for the upcoming soccer season, starting this week.  He’s also committed to trying out for show choir for next year!

And, I’ve re-started my workout routine…again.  It feels good! 🙂

We had a cool experience last night…

Our family went out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants.  We chose last night because we had two gift certificates that were to expire today.  We knew we could only use one of them, but we thought we’d take the other one and find someone there to give the other one to.  Ali’s friend Taylor S. joined us.  We had a wonderful time.  Great food, great company and lots of laughs.

After we received our bill, Bill handed the extra gift certificate to me and gave me the honors of choosing a table to give it to.  I was leaning towards a table to my right, but Ali and Taylor saw a younger couple behind me who was just getting their bill.  Each of them were getting their wallets out.  I assumed they were splitting the bill.  They encouraged me to give it to them.  I walked over to their table and said, “Excuse me.  Could you two use this?”  And I handed them the certificate.  They looked at it and looked at me, not quite sure what to think.  I added, “It expires tomorrow.  We had two of them, but can only use one.  If you’d like it, it’s yours.”  They each smiled, and were still looking at me with a strange look.  The young man thanked me.  I turned and walked back to our table.  There meal was probably completely paid for with this certificate.

Wow…what a great feeling that was!  I replayed our conversation with my family when I got back to the table.  Each one of us had a smile on our face.  We all got to experience something pretty cool right then.  As the couple was headed to the door to pay then leave, the young man walked up next to our table and again thanked us. We all left feeling a little lighter than when we came in…even though our stomachs were full! 🙂  I LOVE doing this kind of stuff!

As a new week is approaching, I look forward to seeing what God will have in store for us.  I’ll share the highlights with you, I’m sure!  Have a great week!

Julie
