A Great Day For A Win

by | Jan 11, 2016 | personal journey

With a little bit of grit and a whole lot of determination I pushed the START button.

It had been over a month since I had been there. The first few minutes on my treadmill were pretty easy. But as I increased the incline and speed, it began to show me who’s boss.

It was hard. My heart was pounding and my muscles were screaming for me to stop. At one point I thought I was going to faint.

I don’t know what I expected, but I most certainly didn’t expect this. Yes, time had passed, but I was in better shape than this. Wasn’t I?

I couldn’t believe how difficult it was. Despite the awfulness of it all, I knew I had to finish, even though I wanted to quit. I had to push through.

Maybe because of pride. Maybe because I wanted to prove to myself I could do it.

Maybe because I just needed a win.

By the time my thirty minutes were up, I was a mess. But at least I finished, even if it wasn’t pretty.

No, I wasn’t happy with my results in that workout, and I was even more unhappy with allowing that much time to pass in between workouts. But that day wasn’t about kicking myself. That day was about a win. A victory over complacency. A win for my health, and a win for not giving up.

That small win paved the way for my future workouts.

Sometimes we could use a win

Sometimes we could use a win.

win :: to gain the victory; overcome an adversary; accomplishment; triumph; achievement

Friend, where in your life could you use a win?

Following through on a commitment?

Adding more vegetables to your diet?

Curbing excessive spending?

Being a woman or man of your word?

Facing that lingering fear head on?

Reading your Bible every day?

Sharing the truth of God with another?

Only you know what that win is. And the truth is, you are capable of making it happen. You are equipped to make a difference.

Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am. Philippians 4:13 MSG

And sometimes the win we need the most is believing we can do it. Friend, with Jesus we can.

Your win can inspire others for theirs.

I’d say it’s a great day for a win. I’m cheering you on.

Believing in you today.

Much love,

Julie

Just being alive, and able to function on a very limited level…that is a win.
