God is Bigger

by | Mar 15, 2013 | God

I find myself saying often, “God is bigger.” And I’ve experienced His “bigness.” (I really don’t think that’s a word.) But I’ve experienced in my life just how big God is. He’s big enough to rescue me. Big enough to handle any problem I encounter. Big enough to steady my boat in unchartered waters. Big enough to draw me away from a pesky, lingering sin. Big enough to change my mind, my heart and my life. He’s also bigger than our excuses.
This arrived in my email inbox this morning from Charles Swindoll. I feel like much of this describes me. I’m thankful God is bigger!

God Is Bigger Than Our Excuses
by Charles R. Swindoll
Then I heard the voice of the LORD, saying,
“Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?”
Isaiah 6:8
We all have excuses to disqualify ourselves from God’s service.
  • “I’m not physically well.”
  • “I’ve got this temper problem.”
  • “I can’t speak very well in public.”
  • “I don’t have a lot of education.”
  • “My past is too raunchy!”
  • “You see, I’m a divorcee.”
  • “I was once in a mental hospital.”
And on and on and on.

But God is bigger than any of those reasons. He specializes in taking bruised, soiled, broken, guilty, and miserable vessels and making them whole, forgiven, and useful again.

You see, God’s perspective is much broader than ours.
