A Wonderful Lunch!

by | Jul 23, 2009 | friends, thankfulness

One of the gifts God has blessed me with is having some wonderful girlfriends in my life! I am so thankful for each one!

Today I had lunch with one of those wonderful girlfriends! My friend Karen D. and I have been friends for many years. We went to the same school together, even though I am a number of years older than her…but in a small school, you get to know everyone pretty well! Karen attended and graduated from a different high school than I, and went on to college, and in the process of both of us pursuing our different walks in life, we lost track of each other.

When our family moved back to my hometown, where we live now, we became neighbors of Karen’s parents! Karen and I got back in touch with each other and began to build our friendship again, just a handful of years ago…and I am so thankful!

Karen has been such a blessing in my life! I have always been impressed with her work ethic…which has certainly paid off for her as she has had some very successful careers so far in her life! I have learned many things from her…watching her work, listening to her wisdom, and soaking in how she stays focused. She’s kindhearted, very caring and sees the best in others. When we meet for lunch or at other times, she always touches my heart when we are talking about something that is very near to her heart that it brings her to tears. I see that many times in our conversations.

She encourages me more than she knows, and she is genuinely interested in me and in my life. I know that because she asks me questions pertaining to me, our family, my life and etc. I cherish her friendship, and wish our schedules would allow us to see more of each other!

Three years ago in July I was honored to sing and be a bridesmaid in her and Tom’s wedding! It was such a beautiful wedding and Karen was such a beautiful bride! She and Tom have an incredible marriage and I see they make each other very happy. It’s a very exciting time in their lives right now as they are expecting their first child in just three weeks! They will certainly be great parents!

Karen if you read this, I am thankful for you and am honored to share in your life! I really enjoyed our lunch today!!! I will be praying for you as you prepare for and deliver your little bundle of joy in a matter of days! 🙂
