A Little Nutty

by | Oct 31, 2010 | This Lefe Family

I think my children sometimes think I’m a little nutty.

Take for example, many times during the week as Zach and I were driving to or from school or Mission of Hope, I have broken out in a number of songs…unexpectantly.  This morning the Smurfs tune came in my head, so I started singing that.  This afternoon coming home, “A Few of My Favorite Things” came singing out of my mouth.  Zach looked at me, rolled his eyes, and shook his head.  “Where do you come up with this stuff?” he asked.  I just gave him a cheesy grin. 🙂

Last night Ali was lying in her bed doing something on her laptop.  I hopped on her bed with her, and since she wouldn’t make room for me, I layed on top of her, hugging and kissing her, and talking to her in “baby talk” like I used to when she was little.  As she tried to hide her head in her covers to get away from the onslaught of my affection, all she could say as she was half-laughing was, “Mah-ommmmm!”

Every now and then I remind Ali and Zach how boring it would be to have a mom who didn’t act a little crazy every now and then.  I’m not sure they believe me. 🙂  But I have fun shocking them or doing something they don’t expect.  I love to make them laugh with the silly things I do.  I hope someday they will look back on all these times and smile.  🙂

Who knows what I will do next??!!  Billy Joel songs are coming to mind right now… “Sing us song you’re the piano man….”  🙂
