Sharing a Memory – Angel Ornaments

by | Dec 5, 2011 | Christmas, family, memories

A couple weeks ago when Zach and I were putting up our Christmas tree, I pulled out one of my most favorite ornaments, and like usual, it made me smile. 🙂 It’s of a baby angel sleeping, dressed in red. I took it out of the original box it came in, which has space to hold two angels. The other angel, dressed in blue, belongs to my brother Pat, and is in his possession. These baby angel ornaments are from our childhood.  I don’t know the full story behind them, but Mom and Dad must have gotten them for Pat and I…so they must be at least close to 40 years old. (Oh my, that sounds old to me today!!)

I have one ornament that may be just a little older…a small round porcelain bell.

All these years, for as long as I can remember, I hung my little angel dressed in red on our Christmas tree.  I did again this year.

Yesterday my brother sent me a picture message on my phone which read, “Still sleeping soundly.”  The picture was of his angel, dressed in blue.

I wonder if Mom and Dad had any idea when they purchased them many years ago how special these two ornaments would be to Pat and I today.  Mine is a pretty special part of my Christmas memories from childhood, and still a part of our family Christmas traditions today.
