Women are surrounded by health advice. Eat this. Don’t eat that. Take this supplement. Try this workout. Follow this plan. It can be hard to know what our bodies actually need.
In this episode, Julie closes out the Healthy, Whole, and Well series with her functional medicine doctor, Dr. Tanya Teggatz.
Dr. Teggatz has practiced medicine for nearly 30 years. She trained in family medicine and later in functional medicine and acupuncture. Today, much of her work focuses on helping women through perimenopause and menopause.
Julie and Dr. Tanya Teggatz talk about why taking care of ourselves can feel so complicated.
They also bring the conversation back to some basics. Prayer. Whole foods. Movement. Strength training. Healthy relationships. And learning what your own body needs.
They also discuss changes women may begin noticing in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond. Dr. Teggatz shares symptoms that may be worth paying attention to instead of automatically dismissing them as part of getting older.
The conversation also covers perimenopause, menopause, hormone replacement therapy, bone health, sleep, and the importance of maintaining strength as we age. Dr. Teggatz encourages women to educate themselves, ask questions, and talk with their healthcare providers about their individual needs.
Most importantly, this conversation is a reminder that our health is worth paying attention to. Caring for ourselves isn’t selfish. And it doesn’t have to come from fear, comparison, or trying to do everything perfectly.
God created us as whole people. Our physical, mental, relational, and spiritual health all matter.
So listen in. Ask questions. Pay attention to what your body may be telling you. And ask God for wisdom as you care for the body and life He has given you.
