Five Minute Friday – Messenger

by | Jun 13, 2014 | Five Minute Friday

It’s Friday! The day a few hundred of us come together at Lisa Jo BakFive Minute Fridayer’s Five Minute Friday and we share five solid minutes of writing from a one-word prompt. Pure, raw and real writing. No worries about anything else, but to just let the words flow from my mind through my hands and onto my blog. Come join the fun, or try it yourself on a piece of paper–just for fun. You might just get hooked like I did.

This week’s word?

–MESSENGER–

Go.

It was a couple days full of self-doubt. I was struggling.

Every writer was better than I. Everyone else in the world knew what they were doing with their lives. Every mom was a better mom than I. Every wife was a better wife… you get the drift.

I was beating myself up over everything.

Tears came out at dinner Tuesday night when I finally shared with my husband and my son exactly how I was feeling.

“I feel like a loser.”

My son had never heard words like that come out of my mouth about myself before. You should have seen his eyes. I thought they might just pop out of his head.

My husband and son ministered a message my heart desperately needed to hear. (Two of the most handsomest messengers too, I might add.)

I woke Wednesday morning to a message on my blog.

The title read, “Keep doing what you’re doing.”

The tears that were cascading from my face the night prior, found their way again down that familiar path as I read this encouraging message.

Get this… From someone I didn’t even know.

He was encouraging me in my writing. What? Really? I couldn’t believe what I was reading. How I needed those words from this messenger. “Know what you’re doing is important to someone.” This messenger had no idea the kind of week I was walking through.

And Wednesday night, a dear friend spoke words of life into my heart about my writing. Her words were “icing on the cake.”

I can’t thank God enough for the messengers He used to encourage me this week. Just when I needed them the most.

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger bringing good news... Isaiah 52:7

There are people in our lives who need a messenger of encouragement. May you and I be that messenger for someone today!

Stop.

Thank you for allowing me to share your Friday. Find someone you can be a messenger to today.

Blessings!
Julie

    Julie!
I just love coming here to read your words, and again today I am encouraged. It is absolutely true how God uses even small moments, regular old messengers to bring a fresh rain of encouragment. I can not count the ways He has done just that through friends near and far. Happy weekend to you!

Life is so like that…instead of the cheery “Life is Good” shirts…we often are tempted to stray down that pessimistic path of “My Life is Terrible…I’m Not Good” concept that is from the “dark side.” We are Star Wars fans at our house…I think of the good evil pull from Jesus/God moments to Satan/sin moments. We live it…we endure…we are patient…we stay in the Word and type our words. Go girl! Keep going! We moms need those encouragers for sure! Hopping over from Lisa Jo’s encouraging FMF link up!

Wow, thank you Jennifer. I’m loving your perspective this morning. We like Star Wars too over here. 🙂 “We stay in the Word and type our words.” You are spot on! That’s what we’re called to do, aren’t we? I love it. I’ll be over to visit your place here soon. Thank you for being a messenger to me today! Have a blessed day!
