Five Minute Friday – Because

by | Sep 25, 2014 | Five Minute Friday

Happy Friday (or Thursday night, whenever you read this)!

It’s that time of week again where we write for five minutes on one word. We let our creativity flow, and it’s sometimes amazing what we come up with in five minutes. We gather together and share our free-writing at Kate Motaung’s place. Why not join us? If you don’t blog, feel free to join the conversation below with your five minutes. I’d sure love to read your words!

This week’s word:

–Because–

Go.

I just started singing the song Because You Loved Me, by Celine Dion. I haven’t heard it in years.

The chorus is:

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn’t speak
You were my eyes when I couldn’t see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn’t reach
You gave me faith ‘cuz you believed
I’m everything I am
Because you loved me

I’m everything I am because they loved me.

–I think of my parents. I am who I am because of how they instilled confidence, independence, and love in me.

–I think of my amazing husband. On my father’s death bed, Bill promised my dad he would take care of his daughter and his grandchildren. He’s done a beautiful job of that. I am who I am because of his love.

–I think of my three brothers. I love them so. I am who I am because they each believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.

–I think of the incredible friends God has brought into my life. Some are lifetime friends, some have come and gone, and some are new. I am who I am because they’ve each touched my life.

–And my children. I am who I am because of the blessings I’ve received of being their mom.

–And these words remind me of all God has done… Gives me strength. Gives me a voice. Allows me to see. Sees the best in me. Lifts me up. Gives me faith.

I’m everything I am because He loved (and loves) me. John 3 16

This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. John 3:16 (The Message)

He loves you this much too!

Stop.

Okay, I went six minutes. It’s funny what comes to your mind when you let it get creative. All of a sudden, I just started singing this song after asking the guys in my life here, “What am I going to write about with the word ‘because?'” They didn’t have time to answer.

God bless you, friend. He loves you, and I do too!

Julie

    Oh Friend!!
I absolutely LOVE that song!!! It was the song I danced with my Dad on my wedding day. It was a so g that came to me while he, yet again, bent over backwards for me to travel around the world (literally) to be with a friend on her wedding day.
I am who I am because of my earthly Daddy’s love and because of my Heavenly Fathers love! Oh sniff sniff- I may not be able to get words out tonight- what a lovely post!!!
    Thank you for the memories!!

It is a beautiful thing, to be surrounded by people who believe in you, have your back – and cherish you! I want my family to be that way to each other!

Thank you for stopping by today! I think we all desire that for our families! Those God has placed in our lives are beautiful gifts to us… even if they aren’t a part of our biological family. But we can pray for God to bring healing where it’s needed. I’ll be praying that for you today. Blessings on your Friday!

Love this! Tears were in my eyes because God makes us who we are because of those who do life with us-family, friends, our children! Absolutely beautiful and I love Celine Deon. Have a blessed Friday!

Hi Mary! Thank you! That’s what God showed me also last night! The song came “out of nowhere,” so I knew it was from Him. I love it when that happens! So thankful for those in my life today who have made me who I am. Thank you for blessing me today! Have a wonderful day!

Amen! We are who we are all because of love–it makes me want to run out and tell someone how much I love them–just because I know how much other people’s words and acts of love mean to me.

I love that, Anita! And so true! All because of love. What a simple thing to do (telling someone how much we love them) that makes all the difference. You’ve given me a new thought today! Thank you! Thank you for stopping by today! Blessings on your weekend!
