Feeling Overwhelmed? 7 Scriptures Just For You

by | May 11, 2016 | personal journey

I believe a common chord was struck in yesterday’s post.

Many of us are feeling overwhelmed.

Many of us have much on our plate. Juggling family, work, goals, responsibilities, home, school, church, you name it. It’s a long list.

We talked about breathing yesterday. I hope you were able to take a few deep breaths. I hope you took time to exhale, to rest, to draw close to God, and read His Word.

The world tells us to work harder, to press through faster, to be a superwoman (a.k.a. crazy woman), to take on more, to be more, to do more.

God tells us to do the opposite.

Who will we listen to?

Friend, I’ve compiled a list of scriptures from God’s Word. May they encourage you. May they bless you. May that give you peace that only God’s Word can.

Breathe deep and relax as you read them, and why not share them with another who is feeling the same as you and me?

7 Scriptures for when you're feeling overwhelmed

7 Scriptures For When You’re Feeling Overwhelmed

PSALM 46:10 (VOICE)

“Be still, be calm, see, and understand I am the True God. I am honored among all the nations. I am honored over all the earth.”

EXODUS 33:14 (NIV)

The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

PSALM 127:2 (MSG)

It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late, and work your worried fingers to the bone. Don’t you know he enjoys giving rest to those he loves?

PROVERBS 3:5-6 (NLT)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

MARK 6:31 (MSG)

Jesus said, “Come off by yourselves; let’s take a break and get a little rest.” For there was constant coming and going. They didn’t even have time to eat.

ROMANS 15:13 (VOICE)

I pray that God, the source of all hope, will infuse your lives with an abundance of joy and peace in the midst of your faith so that your hope will overflow through the power of the Holy Spirit.

ISAIAH 40:28-31 (NLT)

Have you never heard? Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Friend, if you’re feeling overwhelmed today, may I remind you, God is with you. And since He is, you and I can begin to let go of those overwhelming feelings. As we place everything into His hands, we can trust Him to handle it all.

Rest in His love and care today. Take time to breathe and exhale.

He’s got us.

Praying for us all today.

Julie

Hi Carly. I’m with you, and so are many others. God’s promises help me keep my focus on Him, and not what I’m overwhelmed with. Bless you, and thank you for coming by!
