We’re wrapping up our 3-part series, The Stuff We Keep Inside, with what may be the most tender topic of all: what we don’t want anyone to see.
In Episode 1, we talked about the thoughts we think but never say out loud. In Episode 2, we explored the weight we carry that no one knows about. And today, we’re talking about the parts of us we work hard to keep covered—because we’re afraid. Afraid of being judged. Misunderstood. Labeled. Rejected. Afraid that if people saw the real us—the messy, insecure, struggling parts—they might pull away.
But here’s the truth: God already sees what we’re trying to hide. And that’s not meant to scare us—it’s meant to comfort us. The God who sees you fully is the God who loves you completely. He doesn’t expose you to shame you. He invites you into the light to heal you.
We no longer need to hide what we do not want anyone to see.
Julie takes us back to Genesis 3, where Adam and Eve hid after shame entered the world, and reminds us that hiding has been part of the human story ever since. Shame always drives us into hiding—but Jesus invites us to come close. Scripture reminds us there is no condemnation for those in Christ (Romans 8:1), and that God’s light is where freedom begins (1 John 1:7).
In this episode, Julie shares practical steps to begin healing: naming what you’ve been hiding, inviting God into it, identifying what you fear will happen if it’s seen, replacing shame with truth, and choosing to walk in the light—one day at a time.
