In this final week of the A Different Kind of December series, Julie Lefebure invites you into something simple and sacred as Christmas draws near: to celebrate with purpose. Instead of chasing a picture-perfect holiday, this episode reminds us that Christmas doesnโt have to be perfect to be meaningful. Itโs meaningful for one reason: Jesus is here.
Julie encourages us to slow down and rediscover the awe of the Christmas story. How God put on flesh, He came near, and entered the world not as a king in a palace, but as a baby in a manger. Drawing from Isaiah 9:6โ7, she reflects on Jesus as our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. Through Luke 2:10โ14, she highlights the angelโs announcement of good news and great joy. We’re reminded that the heart of Christmas is worship, wonder, and the nearness of God.
Celebrate with purpose.
With honesty and warmth, Julie shares a personal memory from early in her marriage when a grumpy, imperfect Christmas Eve was transformed by worship, gratitude, and an unexpected snowfall. An unforgettable reminder that God can meet us even when our hearts feel off-center. She also acknowledges that not every Christmas is joyful or easy; grief and joy can coexist. Jesus is present in both, especially for those carrying loss during the season.
To help you celebrate with intention, Julie offers practical ideas. Slow the pace with a short scripture reading, simplify expectations, choose connection over control, create meaningful conversation, and center your celebration on Jesus through prayer, worship, and simple moments of gratitude. She also suggests choosing a โpurpose statementโ for Christmas Day, like be present or less pressure, more peace, to anchor your heart.
This week, may you release the pressure and receive the joyโremembering Emmanuel: God with us.
