213. Summer of Abundance Week 10: Speak Life, Live Full

by | Sep 2, 2025 | Podcast

Welcome to week 10 of our Summer of Abundance series on the Encouragement for Real Life Podcast. We’re exploring what it looks like to live an abundant life through this 12-week series this summer, and we only have just a few weeks left. I pray this has encouraged your heart and strengthened your walk with Jesus! Today we dive into our tenth element of abundant living: Life-Giving Words. We are looking into the power of our words, both to ourselves and others. If you’re ready for a word upgrade, stick around and we’ll find some hope and encouragement as we speak life, live full.

Summer of Abundance Week 10: Speak Life, Live Full

In preparing for this episode, I paused last week to glance over my life and to notice words spoken to me or over me throughout the years–both positive and negative. These words, even some that were spoken years ago, still stick with me today. It’s interesting how the negative words tend to rise to the top, however. But I choose to dwell on the positive and life-giving ones–the ones that serve me well.

Our words matter. They either speak life or death.

We explore our key Scriptures for this element: Proverbs 18:21 and Ephesians 4:29, and apply them to our lives.

But our words don’t just matter to others. They also matter to ourselves. Do we speak life or death to ourselves? Proverbs 23:7a NLV says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”

We believe what we tell ourselves.

If we say, “I’m tired.” We’ll feel more tired.
If we say, “I can’t do it.” We won’t do it.
If we say, “I don’t have what it takes.” We won’t have what it takes.

I also highlight the ten most common negative things Christian women say to themselves. Yikes! Plus I share four ways to speak life and live full.

Friend, your words have the power to shape your world and your life—especially the ones you speak to yourself. When you choose to speak life, you’re agreeing with God’s truth instead of the enemy’s lies. This week, catch yourself in those moments of self-criticism, or complaint, or gossip and replace them with the life-giving words your Father says. You are His masterpiece, His beloved, and He has equipped you for every good work.

God bless you.
