I couldn’t move on from last week’s conversation without sharing this part with you.

Taking care of yourself doesn’t have to mean changing everything at once.

Sometimes it starts with paying attention to a few simple things that can make a difference in how you feel.

I loved this part of my conversation with Dr. Tanya last week because she gave us three practical places to begin. Not a long list of things to add to our lives, but a place to start.

And maybe that’s the reminder you need today: you don’t have to do everything. But you can do something.

Which of these three could use a little more attention in your life right now?

Check out our entire conversation on last week’s episode 270 of the Encouragement for Real Life Podcast on YouTube or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Distraction isn`t always glaringly obvious.

Sometimes it looks completely normal.

We reach for our phones without thinking.

We half-listen while doing something else.

We fill every quiet moment.

We move from one thing to the next without ever really being where we are.

And then we wonder why life feels like it’s moving so fast.

I don’t necessarily want to eliminate every distraction from my life. That’s probably impossible.

But I do want to notice when distraction is keeping me from the life God has given me to live.

Which one of these caught your attention?

Save this one and come back to it later this week.

Our attention gets pulled in a hundred directions without us even realizing it.

A notification.

A text.

Something we remembered.

Something we forgot.

Something happening online that has absolutely nothing to do with the life in front of us.

And every time we give something our attention, we’re giving it a little piece of our life.

That makes me want to be much more careful about what gets mine.

Not everything that gets your attention deserves your attention.

What deserves more of yours this week?

It’s too easy to be physically in one place and mentally in another, right?

Thinking about what needs to happen later.

Replaying something from yesterday.

Checking our phones while someone is talking.

Already thinking about Monday when it’s still Sunday.

Meanwhile, our real life is happening right here.

Today I want to pay attention...

To the people in front of me.

To the little moments I usually rush past.

To God’s presence in the middle of an ordinary Sunday.

Your life is happening today.

Be here for it.

Save this as your reminder to come back to where you are today.

Read that again.

Allow it to sink in.

Because it`s true.

I needed this reminder today as I read Day 137 of Made for More. Lately this world has influenced me to feel uninvited or not wanted.

Maybe you`ve been feeling this way lately, too.

Friend, we belong to God. We are His... and we always will be. Nothing can change that.

Turn today to Day 137 and be encouraged. I think God prompted me to write this one just for us today.

There will always be something unfinished (like laundry!).

Something we’re waiting on.

Something we’d like to change.

Something that didn’t go quite as planned.

I used to think enjoying life would be easier when everything settled down a little.

But life keeps teaching me that there’s always going to be something.

And there’s also always something good.

A conversation.

A beautiful evening.

Someone you love sitting beside you.

Something that makes you laugh.

A reminder that God is right here in the middle of it all.

I don’t want to wait for some future version of my life to enjoy the one I’m living today.

Maybe you needed this reminder tonight, too.

Save this for a day when you find yourself waiting for life to be different before you enjoy it.

Right Now Reminder:

Not every thought we have is worth believing.

In fact, some of our thoughts don`t serve us or others well.

Before believing a thought, ask these questions:

Is this true?
Is it helpful?
Would God say this?

If the answer is no to any of these, scrap the thought and move on.

Share this and save it to remind you next time.

A little ordinary life lately.

Home. Work. Family. Things I’m working on. Things I’m appreciating.

Nothing fancy. Nothing monumental. But still important.

And honestly?

I really like this life.

Not because everything in it is exactly how I’d choose it.

But because it`s mine to live.

And I’m thankful God has given me today to live it.

What’s one ordinary part of your life you’re especially thankful for right now?
