Maybe the week isn’t going exactly as planned.

Maybe something you hoped to finish Monday is still sitting there.

Maybe someone else seems ten steps ahead of you.

Maybe your week took a turn you didn’t expect.

This doesn’t mean you’re behind... even if it feels that way.

This isn’t a race.

You’re living an actual life with actual people and actual things that sometimes change the plan.

Do what matters today.

Trust God with what you can’t control.

And stop measuring your day against someone else’s.

Send this to a woman who could use this reminder today.

Some moments are just meant to be lived. Just like this one.

Dinner can just be dinner.

A walk can just be a walk.

A conversation can last longer than expected.

You can sit down without doing something else at the same time.

There is value in simply being present for your own life.

Try it tonight. Put your phone down for 20 minutes and just be where you are.

I SHOULD…

How many times do those words run through our minds without us even noticing?

I should get that done.

I should probably be doing more.

I should say yes.

I should have this figured out by now.

Some shoulds are helpful.

Some come from wisdom.

Some might even be God prompting us.

But others?

We’ve carried them around so long we’ve never stopped to ask where they came from.

That’s what we’re talking about this month on the Encouragement for Real Life Podcast.

And I have a feeling we’re going to uncover a few things together.

Watch today’s episode 271 on YouTube, or listen wherever you get your podcasts, and send it to a woman who might want to join us for this conversation.

I couldn’t move on from last week’s conversation without sharing this part with you.

Taking care of yourself doesn’t have to mean changing everything at once.

Sometimes it starts with paying attention to a few simple things that can make a difference in how you feel.

I loved this part of my conversation with Dr. Tanya last week because she gave us three practical places to begin. Not a long list of things to add to our lives, but a place to start.

And maybe that’s the reminder you need today: you don’t have to do everything. But you can do something.

Which of these three could use a little more attention in your life right now?

Check out our entire conversation on last week’s episode 270 of the Encouragement for Real Life Podcast on YouTube or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Distraction isn`t always glaringly obvious.

Sometimes it looks completely normal.

We reach for our phones without thinking.

We half-listen while doing something else.

We fill every quiet moment.

We move from one thing to the next without ever really being where we are.

And then we wonder why life feels like it’s moving so fast.

I don’t necessarily want to eliminate every distraction from my life. That’s probably impossible.

But I do want to notice when distraction is keeping me from the life God has given me to live.

Which one of these caught your attention?

Save this one and come back to it later this week.

Our attention gets pulled in a hundred directions without us even realizing it.

A notification.

A text.

Something we remembered.

Something we forgot.

Something happening online that has absolutely nothing to do with the life in front of us.

And every time we give something our attention, we’re giving it a little piece of our life.

That makes me want to be much more careful about what gets mine.

Not everything that gets your attention deserves your attention.

What deserves more of yours this week?

It’s too easy to be physically in one place and mentally in another, right?

Thinking about what needs to happen later.

Replaying something from yesterday.

Checking our phones while someone is talking.

Already thinking about Monday when it’s still Sunday.

Meanwhile, our real life is happening right here.

Today I want to pay attention...

To the people in front of me.

To the little moments I usually rush past.

To God’s presence in the middle of an ordinary Sunday.

Your life is happening today.

Be here for it.

Save this as your reminder to come back to where you are today.

Read that again.

Allow it to sink in.

Because it`s true.

I needed this reminder today as I read Day 137 of Made for More. Lately this world has influenced me to feel uninvited or not wanted.

Maybe you`ve been feeling this way lately, too.

Friend, we belong to God. We are His... and we always will be. Nothing can change that.

Turn today to Day 137 and be encouraged. I think God prompted me to write this one just for us today.
