Who said you should?

It`s a question I`ve been asking more often lately.

Because it`s surprisingly easy to build our days around expectations we`ve never stopped to question.

What we should accomplish.
How we should spend our time.
What we should be doing at this stage of life.

But not every expectation deserves a place in our lives.

And sometimes the most important question isn`t what we should be doing, but what God is actually asking us to do.

We`re exploring these kinds of questions in my October podcast series, I Should Probably...

What`s one "should" you`ve been living under lately?

What's one "should" you've been living under lately?

Sometimes life feels like a lot, even when nothing particularly difficult is going on.

It`s the things to remember, the decisions to make, the unfinished tasks, and the thoughts that keep running through your mind.

And before you know it, you`ve spent another day focused on everything that needs your attention without giving much thought to the life you`re actually living.

This has been my focus lately.

God has given us this life, right now. And I don`t want to be so distracted by everything happening in it that I miss what He`s doing through it.

Have you ever found yourself feeling this way?

May these tips help!

How many things are on your list today simply because you`ve convinced yourself you should do them?

Somewhere along the way, you decided they were expected of you.

I`ve been paying more attention to these kinds of "shoulds" in my own life lately, and I`m realizing how easily they can influence my decisions without me even noticing.

Maybe today is a good day to question one of yours.

What`s one thing you`ve been telling yourself you should do?

Yep, it`s this one.

Not the big one from last week or the one we`re looking forward to.

The most important moment is the one we`re living now.

I`m here for it. Are you?

Save this to remind you later this week.

Three years ago today...

Wow. Time sure does fly.

I remember the excitement of this, my first book, becoming available today back in 2023, and I`m still so excited about it today.

God has dome some awe-inspiring things through Right Now Matters, and this week as I sat with a group of women who are currently studying it, I saw Him again working behind the scenes through it.

I`m grateful today...
For God calling me and equipping me to write it.
For you who have already read it (please leave a review if you haven`t already).
For each woman who is living less distracted because of reading it.
And for the joy of celebrating today.

Friend, right now still matters.

Pick up your own copy or for a gift for someone else today.

What does your inner critic often say about you?

You have one... even if you don`t realize you do.

In Day 138 of Made for More we look at Psalm 139:17 and how God`s thoughts about us are precious, countless, and filled with love.

We don`t have to agree with self-criticism. Let`s agree with God, and what He thinks of us, instead.

Sometimes I can tell my mind has had enough input.

Too many tabs open.

Too many things fighting for my attention.

Too much jumping from one thing to another.

When this happens, I don’t necessarily need another productivity hack.

Sometimes I just need less.

Less noise.

Less intake.

Less switching back and forth.

And more attention to the person, task, or moment God has put right in front of me.

If your mind feels scattered, pick ONE of these and try it.

Save the rest for another day.

The pace of this world doesn`t look to be slowing down anytime soon.

As it speeds by around us, you and I can choose to notice the beauty right in front of us.

The leaves taking on a new fall hue.
The smile of someone we love.
The morning sun appearing over the horizon.

What beauty is right in front of you today? Share this to help another notice the beauty, too.
