Rediscovering Christmas – The Weary World Rejoices

by | Dec 25, 2016 | Rediscovering Christmas

Merry Christmas!

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you, he is the Messiah, the Lord. Luke 2:11 NIV

In this good news, our weary world rejoices.

Our weary world rejoices! We don’t have to look too far to see the weariness, do we? Its presence fills the evening news, our daily newspapers, and our social media news feeds. Weary has a tendency to drown out the good, and hide the blessings. Even in the very season we celebrate we can feel weary and heavy and depleted.

But, today, the weary world we live in rejoices. Because of Christmas our hearts are a bit lighter, and our eyes sparkle a little brighter. The loads we’ve carried may feel not so heavy today, as our souls rest in the truth of Christmas. Hope is born this day, and His name is Jesus.

Yes, we have much to rejoice in!

Friend, maybe your weary heart is struggling to rejoice. Or maybe you’ve run yourself ragged over the past few weeks just trying to get everything done for today. And, your exhausted. Or quite possibly your weariness is caused by something beyond your control. Maybe you’re tired of the weariness itself, and you’re ready to lay it aside to live in lasting hope.

Come to the manger, friend. Come and see for yourself the miracle that has taken place. Not just for everyone else on this earth. Not just for those who consider themselves Christians. This miracle has come for us all.

This miracle has come for the weary world we live in.

The Savior has been born to you and to me. He is the Messiah. He’s our rescue from this weary world, and our rescue for our weary souls. This is the hope of Christmas. For us all.

This is why we rejoice on Christmas. This is the reason for this Christmas season. May this impact our lives not only today, but in every day forward.

As we’ve been Rediscovering Christmas here on the blog for a number of weeks, I thank you for coming along with me. I believe this journey through the Christmas season has played a big part of keeping my focus on what’s important. I hope it has done that for you, too. If you’ve missed some of the posts and you want to read more, you can find them here.

In the meantime, please allow me to remind you how special you are to me. Thank you for giving me reasons to keep writing and to continue offering encouragement in this weary world. May the precious video below bless you as much as it has blessed me, especially on this Christmas Day.

With much Christmas love,

Julie
