Showing Up Thankful, Grateful, And Blessed

by | Dec 13, 2018 | #adventure2018

It’s another quiet morning here in the Lefebure home. Gone are the days of getting kids ready for school and making sure they have a healthy breakfast before heading out the door. You know? I didn’t think I would miss those days when I was in the thick of them, but today, I do.

It’s just Bill and me here in the mornings now, and even though our days start differently than they used to, it’s still special. Bill left for work before I attempted to crawl out of bed today. After opening my eyes, I decided to make a cup of tea and put some thoughts on my blog before the day gets too far ahead of me.

I’m showing up this morning thankful, grateful, and blessed.

Thankful, grateful and blessed

I had a heart procedure on November 19. From what we can tell, it went as expected. I’m gratefully humbled by the grace and love shown to me during this time by many.

The emotions that followed, however, were unexpected. A combination of thankfulness and peace mingled with sadness and unrest appeared out of nowhere. I felt well one minute, yet wiped out the next. The bruise that appeared on my upper thigh from a bleed was also was unexpected. After three and a half weeks, the pain and the ugly 5-inch mark are finally gone. Hallelujah!

I’m healing and feeling whole again. I’ll find out more next week at my follow-up appointment. But, one thing I know for sure is, your prayers continue to matter and I thank you for each one whispered on my behalf.

I couldn’t bring myself to writing during those emotional days. But today, something changed. I woke up and thought, I need to write a post. So, here I am. Showing up thankful, grateful, and blessed.

Thankful, grateful, and blessed.

(I need to find myself a t-shirt that says that.)

Thankful because giving thanks is directly connected to wonder, and awe, and praise.

Grateful because I am full of gratitude for what God continues to show me, how He continues to grow me, and what He allows me to experience on this adventure with Him.

Blessed because I am. Not of anything I’ve done, but because of all God has done. I don’t deserve one single thing, yet my Creator continues to shower me with more than I can comprehend.

It’s good to remember just how thankful, grateful, and blessed I am. Because some days I don’t feel it. Some days the enemy of my soul argues against truth. Some days I feel less-than, unworthy, rejected, and quite honestly, a mixed-up mess. I’m glad my feelings aren’t reality those days.

Sometimes we could use a reminder of how thankful, grateful, and blessed we are.

Friend, how about you? How are you thankful, grateful, and blessed today? Does it help to pause and ponder this question? Maybe jot down a few answers?

You know? No matter what happens in our lives and what’s going on around us we can remain thankful, grateful, and blessed. Because that’s who we are.

And, that’s how we can continue to choose to live.

Blessings to you!

I am overwhelmed by how blessed I am! The enemy works on me too whispering what ifs in my ear all the time. I don’t want to live in future what ifs but rather thankful, grateful, and blessed today! That is my prayer. P. S. I need the t- shirt, too!
