Five Minute Friday – News

by | Mar 3, 2016 | Five Minute Friday

Here we are again… Five Minute Friday!

When many of us free-write on the same one-word prompt, and we share them at Kate Motaung’s as we encourage each other. It’s not only a great way to let creativity flow, but the Five Minute Friday community is filled with amazing and wonderful friends. I invite you to try taking the one word (below) and writing for five minutes on your own. (I’d love to read it in my comments section below!)

This week’s word:

–NEWS–

GO.

There’s no new news here.

Same old, same old.

But I’ve come to realize, that’s an okay thing.

I mentioned this to my husband after receiving the prompt from Kate, and his words caused me to think a new thought.

“Old news can be good news.”

Huh??

“What old news?” I asked. I couldn’t think of any.

He responded, “The old news you study each day.”

Don’t get my husband wrong. “Old” doesn’t mean bad. “Old” are those precious ancient words found in the Bible.

Old news is good news.

For God expressed His love for the world in this way: He gave His only Son so that whoever believes in Him will not face everlasting destruction, but will have everlasting life. John 3:16 Voice

best newsThis News is the best news.

And it’s news I want to continue to share. Will you share it with me??

Go out into the world and share the good news with all of creation. Mark 16:15 Voice

STOP.

Julie

P.S. God’s Word continues to refresh and renew my spirit and my life. So even though the Words are from of old, they are new. And each time I dig into His Words, I learn something new… about God, His people, about me, or my life.

Yep! The ‘old news’ is my favorite kind and I spend time pouring over it each morning. I hope that my actions and words always reflect and direct others to my ‘news source’!

Julie, I love your take on the FMF word this week. Old news IS the best news. I love that God speaks to us through His unchanging, amazing, living word. I keep a journal of things He’s showing me, and it’s fun to be able to go back and remember things He’s taught me through His word.

What a wonderful idea, Jeanne. When we write down the things we see God doing, it witnesses His faithfulness to us again and again. Love that! Have a blessed week ahead!
