Believe In 2016

by | Jan 1, 2016 | personal journey

Happy 2016, my friend!

I pray this new year is filled with everything of God for us all. I pray our eyes are opened to His goodness, His truth, His presence, and His love.

May His peace surround you, and may you be encouraged today as you look ahead to the next 364 days.

As I’m in my office this morning, enjoying my third cup of coffee (yes third!), the word BELIEVE continues to resound in this foggy head of mine.

And believe it or not, (no pun intended!) as I type these words, a song I’m not sure I’ve ever heard before is playing on my Pandora. The title? This I Believe (The Creed) by Hillsong Worship. The Newsboys’ song We Believe (one of my favorites) was a few songs back.

I’m thinking God is pointing me to BELIEVE.

So, I guess if I was to pick a word for 2016, that’s going to be my word.

believe :: to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so; trust; rely on; understand; expect; consider

For months the same scripture continues to appear in front of me, most often when I least expect it. It all began when my pastor spoke on it this past summer. I’ve carried it in my heart as a precious treasure ever since.

Luke 1 45 Blessed is she who believed

I’m reminded this morning of something God revealed to me December 31 eight years ago. He clearly showed me a truth for my life in Psalm 89:1…

I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.

I thought it meant something different at the time, and for years I’ve questioned its significance. For it to surface again today, I’m believing He’s still working that verse within in me for His plans, His purposes, and for His good.

I’m believing that there will be a fulfillment of what has been spoken to me by the Lord.

I believe it’s going to be a great and exciting year.

And I’ll be watching in anticipation to see how He’s going to use Psalm 89:1, and the word BELIEVE in my life throughout the days ahead.

Friend, what are you believing today? What has God shown you that maybe you’ve forgotten about, or you’ve questioned what it meant? What word or picture or scripture continues to show up before you? What is God pointing you to for your new year?

There’s just something about knowing God is personally showing Himself in any sort of way to you and me. It’s pretty incredible, actually. The God of the universe, the One who created all things, stooping down to show us something individually specific. So amazing!

I pray He does that for you today.

And when He does, I’d love to read about it below if you care to share.

As we journey together through 2016, I anticipate the many ways we’ll share life and God’s love with each other. I look forward to it. And I believe He’s going to do great things as we walk this road of life together. Thank you for journeying with me!

And just for fun, here’s Newsboys’ We Believe video to start off the new year:

All of God’s best to you!

Much love,

Julie

Isn’t it amazing, Julie, that God can speak something to us and eight years later it comes up again in our spirit as if it were yesterday? I am believing with you that He will make it clear to you this year. Last year, I asked God for my “one word” and I was sort of surprised by what He said-so much so that I doubted it was from Him and I really didn’t like it. Thus year, I didn’t even have to ask. It was clear-service. I’m looking forward to serving God and serving others. It makes sense to me be ause acts of service is my love language. I’m believing that those acts of service this year will flow naturally from the Lord through me. I look forward to another year of blogging and linking up with you! Blessings.

Faith is all about believing. To have Faith is to believe when your common sense tells you not to.

    Praying for you. God bless.

Believe is a wonderful word for a new year! This year you might check out Beth Moore’s book, Believing God. It encouraged me so much. This year, I’m believing that God will show me more of his wonder and make me a more effective wife, mom, and writer.

I was given the word Create this year. I am excited to see where this words takes me. There are so many possibilities floating around in my brain, and yet, I have a feeling it (God) just might take me somewhere I would never have guessed too.

Happy New Year, Julie. Just love the verse from Luke and all the ones that surround sweet Mary and Elizabeth. We just started studying Luke at church and I’ve been re-reading those verses. So much to meditate on when we think of all they faced and overcame. They believed and oh, did God fulfill His promises – so much hope and promise for us! And yes – it’s pretty amazing that our incredible God meets us with a specific word – which ties in to mine (wonder) so beautifully. 🙂 Blessings, sweet friend. And thank you so much for all your prayers.

Tiffany, it’s good to see you here. How are you feeling? I’ll stop over to your place too, to see what’s going on in your corner of the world. Happy New Year to you! I love your word… and I look forward to seeing what God does with it in the days and weeks to come. I continue to pray for you. God bless you, friend.

You are a beautiful writer! God is using you to encourage so many!
I love the look of the verse Luke 1:45 on this post – do you sell prints of it? My goddaughter’s name is Elizabeth, and I’m looking specifically for a print of this verse for her room 🙂
