Zach "Gets It!"

Do you agree the with statement, “People will only help others if it will somehow benefit themselves?”

I don’t, and neither does my son, Zach.
For school Zach is having to present his “argument” against that statement.
Here is part of his presentation…
“My mother works at Mission of Hope on First Avenue. It is a place for the needy to come get something to eat, clothing, and be in the company of others. Sometimes I go along with my mom on days I don’t have school. I have seen countless volunteers coming in to help with the homemade meal at lunchtime and to help clean up at the end of the day. They aren’t doing it to benefit themselves. They are doing it for the needy.”
I couldn’t be more proud of this young man! At such a young age, he “get’s it!”
And he’s right. I see people every day give to benefit others, and they are not doing it for themselves. Even those who are considered needy give of themselves to help others. This is a good reminder for us all to give without expecting anything in return. Is there someone you can give to today? Someone you can bless? Someone, whom you know if you give to, you won’t receive anything back from them? That’s the best kind of giving!
Thanks, Buddy for that reminder today! Great job, Zach! 🙂
