Where God Wants Us

by | Jan 24, 2016 | personal journey

After yesterday’s post, and yesterday’s reminder of Who is in control, I’m recalling what’s important.

My piddly problems were nothing compared to what others are walking through. Friends dealing with cancer. Another with muscular dystrophy. Others are dealing with deaths, loss, sickness. Some are searching for answers, and waiting on results. And many are just trying to find purpose and meaning in life.

Ketchup on my living room carpet is nothing. I know that. But when we find ourselves smack-dab in the center of a mess, life can seem overwhelming and more than we can handle.

And I believe sometimes that’s exactly where God wants us.

Where God wants usThose are often the times we awaken to the reality that life is more than we can handle on our own. It’s in those times we find God is waiting and willing to walk alongside us, and is reaching out to take us by the hand. And it’s in those times we understand it’s okay to not be the strong one, but to allow Him to be.

It’s then when we can simply follow His lead. It’s then when we can just be held by Him. It’s then when we can be at rest.

And in that rest our strength returns.

The Eternal [Lord] is the source of my strength and the shield that guards me. When I learn to rest and truly trust Him, He sends His help. This is why my heart is singing! I open my mouth to praise Him, and thankfulness rises as song. Psalm 28:7 VOICE

Friend, my heart is singing today. It’s singing because yesterday I gave up control. And I rested in His help and in His care. As strange as it may seem, as yesterday’s events caused me to crumble, that’s exactly where God wanted me to be.

And I’m better today because of it.

God used those circumstances to help me see there was a better way to walk through them.

Where in your life can you look back and see how God brought good out of what appeared to be bad? When was the last time you gave up control and rested in His help and in His care? How have you seen God mold and shape you through difficult circumstances?

I appreciate how God continues to mold me, grow me, and refine me into the woman He desires me to be. (I have so far to go!) I’m thankful He doesn’t leave any of us as we are.

In whatever situation you are finding yourself in today, I pray you are able to see God in and through it. I pray you can let Him handle it, and may you rest in His care as He does so.

This may be exactly where He wants you.

Trust Him to use it for good.

I may have found the perfect song for today’s post. Enjoy this from Casting Crowns… Just Be Held.

Much love today,

Julie

A friend said, “It’s good to have a soft place to land” when I said I felt so loved and supported this week. I think that’s what it means to be held in Jesus. To know he loves and supports us. Great post!

He may want us where we are to be a buffer between those who are weaker than we, and that which they would….in this moment…find unbearable.

We may, in the temporal sense, be expendable.
