Walking Through The Transitions Of Life

by | Mar 29, 2015 | Sunday Truth

A week of transitions has found me here.

With my coffee. A quiet home. Looking for the blessings in this chilly, cloudy, breezy Iowa day.

How about you? Where do you find yourself today? Has your week been full of transitions too?

transition:  movement, passage, or change from one position, state, stage, subject, concept, etc., to another; change

Life is full of transitions, of changes. Is it not??

Some of us walk through them better than others. Some of us struggle with change. But whether we embrace them or fight them, they happen. Like it or not.

We transitioned from Florida weather to Iowa weather this week.

From 80-degree beaches to 30-degree bleachers.

From vacation mode back into reality mode.

From high school show choir season to soccer season.

From winter to spring. (Yay!)

From no schedule to a more structured routine.

My youngest crossed over into adulthood.

I’ll be the first to admit some these transitions weren’t the most pleasant to walk though. But with God’s help, we did it. Yet, some of them were exciting changes we embraced.

But what about the bigger, more life-altering transitions??

What about those that make you wonder “how am I going to make it through this??”

A job change. A relationship change. A marriage status change. Relocating. Graduating. Giving birth. The death of a loved one. A debilitating disease. The loss of a friend. The consequences of a lapse in judgment.

Those are the transitions that are the real challenges. Those are the ones that turn life upside-down. Those are the ones in where we lose what’s “normal.”

We have hope!

With God’s help, we’ll make it through those as well.

Deuteronomy 31 8

And He will be leading you. He’ll be with you, and He’ll never fail you or abandon you. So don’t be afraid! Deuteronomy 31:8

God isn’t going to leave us in those all-encompassing transitions of life. He’ll take your hand and mine, and lead us through them. We having nothing to fear, nothing to be afraid of when He’s leading the way. Even when it’s uncomfortable. Even when we can’t see where we’re headed.

We can take comfort in that truth right there.

No matter what kind of transition you’re finding yourself in today, immense or tiny, He’s with you. Look for His hand reaching out to you, and hold on to it for dear life. You’ll be safe in His arms. He’s got you.

And as you walk with Him through it, someone is watching you. Someone else is seeing the faith and trust you have in Him Who is guiding you. Someone could use His hand in his/her life, too, as they walk through their own transitions. You might just be the one to point them in His direction, and to His hand.

I’m praying for you today, friend.

He is with you! Enjoy this timely song below.

Much love,

Julie

What a lovely home you have here! I admit, I’m not handling a certain transition right now. My oldest will be entering high school in mere months and her interests and activities are changing. With those changes come changes to our family life. I only have four years to instill so much of His goodness to her. It leaves me a bit panicked! So thank you for these wonderful words today! I know I’m not alone. Visiting from The Weekend Brew. Blessings!

I can understand, Carrie. My youngest just turned 18 and will graduate from high school in two (yes 2!!) months. Gulp. Do all you can to instill those godly values and His goodness in her and all your children. Time does go by way too fast. Thanks for visiting and sharing. It’s good to have you here!

Such an encouraging post and passage of scripture. Transitions are not always easy but the road is much easier when we allow God to walk before us. So thankful He never fails, never leaves us on our own.
