Trusting Our Defender

by | Jul 30, 2014 | personal journey, W2W

Some time ago, God confirmed He was, and would always be, my Defender.

He hasn’t let me down.

The times when untruths were told, and false testimonies surfaced, God continued to defend and protect me. Even as of late, He has made it clear I’m not to get in His way. I’m to let Him handle what I can’t.

But that can be hard for me. I tend to want to lash back and defend myself. I want to “set the record straight.” I want to shout from the rooftops how wrong all of it is. But God says no.

So I wait. I pray. I trust.

Friend, it’s quite possible you are experiencing something similar, or will be soon. You’re following after God. You believe you are in the center of His will. You are doing what’s right. Minding your own business. Walking hand-in-hand with your Savior.

But “out of nowhere” they come. Negative judgments, false accusations, wrongful intentions of disgrace. It doesn’t make sense. You don’t deserve this. You wonder why God isn’t stopping it. You ask Him, “Why is this happening?”

Jesus said in Matthew 5:11-12 (The Voice):

And blessed are you, blessed are all of you, when people persecute you or denigrate you or despise you or tell lies about you on My account. But when this happens, rejoice. Be glad. Remember that God’s prophets have been persecuted in the past. And know that in heaven, you have a great reward.

There’s nothing like the words of Jesus to bring us comfort.

Friend, God is your Defender. There’s nothing you have to do, unless He makes it clear to do something.

Even though it’s difficult, you can rest in knowing He’s got this. He’s in your corner. He will somehow use it for good.

God in His Grace covers any disgrace of those who belong to Him.

God, in His grace, covers any disgrace of those who belong to Him.

Keep praying. Keep your focus on Him, His Word, His love, and His amazing grace.

May God encourage you through Psalm 43 (The Voice) below:

Plead for me; clear my name, O God. Prove me innocent before immoral people;
Save me from their lies, their unjust thoughts and deeds.
You are the True God—my shelter, my protector, the one whom I lean on.
Why have You turned away from me? Rejected me?
Why must I go around, overwrought, mourning, suffering under the weight of my enemies?
O my God, shine Your light and truth to help me see clearly,
To lead me to Your holy mountain, to Your home.
Then I will go to God’s altar with nothing to hide. I will go to God, my rapture;
I will sing praises to You and play my strings, unloading my cares, unleashing my joys, to You, God, my God.
O my soul, why are you so overwrought? Why are you so disturbed?
Why can’t I just hope in God? Despite all my emotions, I will hope in God again.
I will believe and praise the One who saves me and is my life,
My Savior and my God.

Lifting you in prayer today,

Julie

(It’s Woman to Woman Wednesday where we encourage one another. I’ve heard from many recently how hard it is to stand up under false testimonies and judgments. With our Defender, we can! We’re in this together, and I’m so glad we are. I’m linking up with MeredithBeth and Holley today. You’ll be encouraged over at their places too. Sending long-distance hugs to you today!)

    These words are so needed, Julie. I have been there and I’m sure I’ll be there again. This sums it all up, “God, in His grace, covers any disgrace of those who belong to Him.” YES!!! Thank you for linking-up today. We’ve missed you over here. 🙂

    Amen! Remembering to sit back and allow Him to do what He does and wants to do is not always easy for me either, but He does a much better job than I can or could ever do!
    I am so glad I came by.

    Julie- thank you for reminding that the “fights for our rights” are not ours to fight. This line is perfect: “God, in His grace, covers any disgrace of those who belong to Him.” And I find such love when I think that Jesus chose to be disgraced for the sake of saving me. Amazing grace, indeed! Loved this!
