Five Minute Friday – Ready

by | Sep 11, 2014 | Five Minute Friday

I was just hanging out with some of the most incredible women online at what’s called #fmfparty (Five Minute Friday Party) which happens on Thursday nights. It’s a highlight of my week. The coolest thing is?? I’ve not met a one of them in person. We’ve become friends online through our Five Minute Fridays. Love that!

So, here we are again. Writing for five minutes with no strings attached. That’s my favorite part. Free-writing and just letting the words come from our hearts and minds through our hands onto our keyboards. We meet up at Kate Motaung’s to share our writing and encourage one another. We know there’s enough in life that tries to discourage, so we do what we can to combat that. Join us, won’t you? And if you don’t have a blog, share your five minutes of writing in the comment section below.

You bless me by being here!

This week’s word:

–READY–

GO.

It’s been a week.

Tonight all I can think about is getting ready to call it a day, and getting ready for bedtime.

But there’s so many more worthwhile things to write about, isn’t there?

Sometimes there isn’t. Sometimes it’s okay to just call it a day, get some rest, and ready yourself for another day. That may be me tonight.

Earlier this evening I came to the realization again of just how much I love my life.

All the things I’ve done thus far, all the things God has taken me through, the lessons I’ve learned, the life training I’ve had, have gotten me ready for this life right here and now. It’s not a perfect life, but it’s great. And I love it.

And I imagine what I’m doing now is getting me ready for the next step on this journey.

Ready: duly equipped, completed, adjusted, or arranged, as for an occasion or purpose

God is making us ready. Ready for the next step on this earth, and ready for the step into eternity. May we not take the process lightly.

Matthew 2444Are you and I ready? There’s nothing more important to be ready for.

STOP.

I struggled a bit with this word tonight. But that happens in five minutes sometimes. And it’s okay. Have fun with your five minutes of writing. Looking forward to reading it!

Hugs to you!

Julie

I want to be ‘duly equipped’ and so often I’m running out the door with my shoes untied (not literally–I always carefully tie my shoes because I’m sort of clumsy and have learned THAT lesson 😉 ). Thank you for the reminder that ‘ready’ should be God’s definition, not mine.

You and me both, Anita! ‘Duly equipped’ stood out to me too. Yes, tied shoes are a must. 😉 May He ready each of us in His timing! So glad to connect with you last night on #fmfparty!

And that’s really all we need to be ready for isn’t it – HIM. We simply need to be ready for Him.

Beautiful Julie! There is a lot of change coming for me but I am realizing that being ready is just opening our hearts to God and the next big thing He has planned. May we all trust and know that God will prepare us and walk through us to next big thing.

Missed chatting with you last night! I was there but tired so I wasn’t interacting too much! Have a wonderful weekend!

I missed chatting with you last night too. I was in and out, so I thought maybe I missed you while you were there. God will prepare us and walk us through the next big thing–you’re absolutely right on that one. We can rest in that trust. Praying you have a beautiful weekend, friend!

Sometimes it’s okay to just call it a day, get some rest, and ready yourself for another day.

And sometimes it’s hard to just be okay with that…when that’s exactly what He calls for us to do! Thanks for sharing! And it was good to connect with you last night!

Hi Rachel! Yes, it was great connecting with you too! Last night was a tough night to write. I was exhausted. But getting rest was what I needed for this day. Thanks for sharing and for stopping in today. It’s always a joy to have you here! Have a great day!

My thought when I saw the prompt this week was, am I ready? It took me back to the 70’s, when we were all so sure the Lord was going to come snatch us away any second, and the rapture was all we could talk about. When did that readiness, that eager anticipation, fade? Thanks for a good read. 🙂

Good point, Susan. When did it fade?? We never know the hour, but it could be closer than we realize. Thank you for sharing your perspective today!

“God is making us ready.” Yes. always. Love thinking about that tonight, wondering what he is ‘readying’ me for right now.
