Five Minute Friday – Follow

by | May 14, 2015 | Five Minute Friday

Here we are again.

Time for Five Minute Friday. Free-writing for five minutes on a one-word prompt with no concern for anything but pure writing. Even when our minds are mush, it’s good to stretch ourselves and let the words eek out. Grab a scratch piece of paper, write in a notebook, share it on your blog or in my comments section below. Five minutes. We gather back together at Kate’s place to share and encourage.

Here we go!

This week’s word:

–FOLLOW–

GO.

There’s much to follow in this world. Or not.

“Follow your heart.”

From experience, my heart can get me into trouble.

“Follow the yellow brick road.”

That road was for Dorothy and Toto, but I’ve yet to find it.

“Lead, follow, or get out of the way.”

Some days I do all three.

“Don’t follow the herd.”

So often I’ve done just that. And ended up in a place I didn’t need to be.

followOf all the “things” I’ve followed, I’ve found there’s been only One who has led me in the right direction, on the right path. The narrow path that leads to life. Everything else has led me astray.

But not Jesus.

He’s the Way, the Truth, the Life.

He’s the only One I desire to follow.

Following Him will never lead to a dead end. But to life everlasting.

STOP.

This wasn’t the easiest one for me to write tonight, but it’s where my heart is at today. It’s been a rough day, but even so, I’m not alone. And neither are you.

Blessings!

Julie

If your brain is mush tonight, then I am super jealous of your good days! I, too, long to follow on the narrow path. I’m so thankful for a navigator who is faithful in getting me redirected when I happen to get off track.

Nope friend you are not alone. Jesus is indeed the way, the truth and the life. I’ve never found that yellow brick road yet either.

My head originally went to the narrow path this week too, Julie, but my heart took me in another direction. It’s not always the easiest or most popular path chosen, but it is the one that leads us home – to life everlasting, amen!

Yes, how easily we get pulled off the path if we don’t keep our eyes on Him! Thank you for this reminder! Have a Happy Friday!

I’m sorry you’re having a rough day, Julie :(. Consider yourself hugged! I, too, have discovered that keeping my eyes on Jesus and just following is so much better than doing my own thing.
