Choose To Make It Great

by | Jan 16, 2016 | personal journey

Today will be full of choices. And what we choose to do and not do can determine much.

Choose to make it a great dayI cannot choose what happens to me, but I do have a choice in how I react.

I cannot choose the behavior of others, but I can determine how it will affect me.

I cannot choose God’s will for my life, but I do have a choice to obey His call and glorify Him in it.

So, today I choose to be a light in this dark world.

I will encourage instead of discourage. I will smile more and frown less. I will bless instead of curse.

I will pray more and complain less. I will look for the good instead of the bad. Instead of pointing others to me, I’ll point them to the true Light.

Today I choose to believe the best in others.

I will forgive instead of holding a grudge. I will compliment more and chastise less. I will pray to see others through Jesus’ eyes and not my own.

I will assume the best and not the worst. I will treat others as I want to be treated. I will put myself in another’s shoes instead of making judgments.

Today I choose to make a difference.

I will help and give without expecting anything in return. I will genuinely listen to others and be a friend. I will find creative ways to make another smile.

I will inspire instead of bore. I will do what I can to make another’s day better. I will replace cruelty and condemnation with grace and love.

Today I choose to be brave.

I will be the change I desire to see. I will love and not hate. I will stand up for what is right instead of shrinking back.

Instead of remaining in my comfort zone, I will step out of it. I will embrace a life of adventure and turn away from fear. I will replace timidity with boldness, and cowardliness with courageousness.

Today I choose to make it a great day.

Will I do all this perfectly? Absolutely not. By making positive, impacting choices will my day be flawless? I could only pray that’s the case. But I know better. Taking these steps and failing in any of them, is better than not choosing to do them at all.

Let’s choose to make it great together.

Bless you, friend!

Julie

St. Augustine writes that the only differences between the challenges an unbeliever and a Christian face – are how we choose to face that challenge – with God or without. Your post is a lovely reminder on how to do just that! What an encouraging message to start off my week! Shalom!
